Sutter Health System operates many hospitals in Northern California, including Mills-Peninsula Medical Center a 317-bed comprehensive stroke center and acute care medical center offering a wide range of medical services. Sutter Health offers several other 300-400+ bed Level II Trauma Centers (Alta Bates Summit Locations) and smaller rural community hospitals (Sutter Amador).

Sutter Health does offer an organized New Nurse Residency program and a Transition to Practice program for experienced nurses to move into specialty areas- at select facilities. The Nurse Residency Program is 12 months in length. Every New Nurse Hired as a Sutter Health Employee will have the opportunity to participate. The RN Residency is available in multiple specialties including Critical Care, Emergency, Med/Surg Specialties and more.
